Bonefish Float Update

FLOAT UPDATE
by Past Commander Steve Corcoran

Hello all. I just wanted to submit an up-date on the float restoration project. We have hired Dave Jagger, of DJ Welding and Fabrication to build our new float. I want to thank Base member Michael Friend for towing the float to Dave’s property today. Mike ensured we had a safe journey to Ollala.

Dave wants to use our current float as a template to help in the production of the new float. Dave understands we want to replicate as much as possible from the Bonefish. He may also use parts from the current float and utilize on the new float.

I have not given Dave a timeline on the completion of the new float. We are pretty much behind at least a year due to the COVID restrictions, plus we have no idea on parades at this time.

Dave’s first order of business is to find a new trailer. Once a new trailer is acquired, he expects the project to be completed pretty quickly.

When Dave first saw the Bonefish last month, his reaction was” This is going to be a fun project, I ‘m excited”. I am excited also.

After Mike and I towed the float today, we both agreed, we need a new float. The current Bonefish has served Bremerton Base Submarine Veterans for almost 40 years. It is time to de-commission.

I will submit Dave’s information below. He does have a website if you want to check out any of his work. He also welcomes any members to stop by if you want to see progress as this float gets built. I will keep the E-Board posted and the base members informed when that is possible. Any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Take care my friends. Be safe.
