The Base Commander Sends…

Shipmates, Families, and Friends,

As we get ready to start another year of activities, gatherings, parades, & anything new we pursue I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for the past four years. As your Vice Commander it was an honor to serve as a voice and grow as a leader in this great corporation.

For all that were able to attend the January General Meeting this past Saturday, it was an incredible day for the Base. If you have a Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/ussvibremerton/) , we were able to live stream the meeting for all to watch at your convenience. To recap, we had the pleasure of Pete Juhos, Western District Commander executing the swearing of Secretary – Robert Hickman, Treasurer – Dan Inman, COB – Dave Pittman, Past Commander – Dave Bowman, Vice Commander – Waylan Shropshire, and Commander – Ileene Davis.

Thank you again, to all shared stories and reminded us of those stories of others. I have a couple of reminders from the meeting if you missed it or need it:

  •  01 February all inputs to the Newsletter Editor Dave Pittman are due (drpittman@wavecable.com). If you have any sea stories you want to share feel free to send those anytime.
  • The Charitable Foundation is manned and ready to assist you. Please feel free to reach out to our base Charitable Fund Ambassador, Michael Talpai (360.731.3301) or (michaeltalpai@gmail.com) or any of the eBoard to get you the help or closer to a solution to problem you may be experiencing.
  • We are hosting the 2024 Western Region Roundup, April 11-13. Deadline for base access activities is due 01 FEB.

You can find all the details at this site or join us at the upcoming general meetings for more detail that will not be published. We will also need volunteers for tasks throughout the event. Sign up sheets will be at each meeting leading up to the event. Let’s show our Western Region brethren how we handle liberty call! https://wrroundup.com/

We are always looking for backups to all positions. It is important that if one of our members that holds a Chair position falls ill, there is someone that is there to stand in their place in their absence. All positions below need assistants, feel free to reach out here, FB messenger or in person.

Assistant Deterrent Park Chair
